Here we are in what should be the bleak mid-winter and I can’t help but be excited about all of the awesomely unique opportunities that winter in Maine creates. From ice fishing Moosehead Lake, Sebago or Chamberlain; to skiing sugarloaf, sunday river and mars hill. From snowshoeing the Portland Trails in the city to cross country skiing the sunrise trail into Washington County; there are literally endless numbers of activities and before we know it, it’ll all melt away.
We are particularly excited for the 3rd weekend in February, the 14th-16th, as it is the winter edition of the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend; a statewide celebration of outdoor recreation in our great state. This event, organized by representatives from LL Bean, Appalachian Mountain Club, Maine Coast Heritage Trust, No Umbrella Media, Winter Kids, Campfire Magazine & Mesh Marketing, includes over 100 events scheduled by organizations from York to Caribou, Rangeley to Machias.
Planning on attending one the of the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend events? Be sure to take photos and post them to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest with #CampfireMagazine & #GMOW
We’ll see you out there!
