West Penjajawoc Grasslands Field, Bangor

Directions: From the Stillwater end of Essex Street, drive north approximately three miles, passing Chestnut Trail and taking your next right onto Fox Hollow Lane. Stay on Fox Hollow Lane until you reach the cul-de-sac parking area at the end. A BLT kiosk marks the trailhead, just off this cul-de-sac. It’s about a half mile hike through the field to the nesting boxes. Follow the markers that we’ll have in place.

Here’s a great opportunity to celebrate the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend! Is it a clear sky night? If so, join us for a late night outing at West Penjajawoc Grasslands to witness the supermoon total eclipse. We’ll meet in the field at the newly raised bat nesting boxes – bring a headlamp or flashlight, a chair, binoculars, bug spray, and good stories. Guided Snowshoe Adventure, Bangor

Enjoy and celebrate beautiful outdoor resources in Bangor. Head out across West Penjajawoc Grasslands to the Penjajawoc Marsh. If the Marsh is well frozen, we'll go all the way across the marsh, which is a wonderful adventure filled with cattail, alder, porcupine sign, and muskrat dens. Your guide will explain the Penjajawoc Preserve names and their locations to show how they're connected. Winter Adventure with Cocoa, Bangor

Saturday, February 16 at 10 a.m. meet at the cul-de-sac at the end of Fox Hollow Lane (West Penjajawoc Preserve ). Bring snowshoes or skis depending on snow depth. If conditions permit, we'll explore out onto the Penjajawoc Marsh where you'll get a 360-degree view of BLT preserves (we'll bring a map to orient you).
