Katahdin Woods & Waters Recreation Area is a special part of Maine with world-class fishing, hunting, hiking, snowmobiling, canoeing, mountain biking and spectacular views of Mount Katahdin.
Sponsored by Elliotsville Plantation, a private Maine-based foundation that owns approximately 100,000 acres of land east of Baxter State Park, Katahdin Woods & Waters Recreation Area provides an early preview of what could become a new national park and national recreation area in northern Maine.
Bordered on the west by Baxter with the East Branch of the Penobscot River running through its heart, the area includes amazing opportunities for traditional outdoor activities. Whether its canoeing and fishing the rivers, streams and ponds; hiking or mountain biking the miles of trails; or riding a snowmobile deep into the heart of the Maine woods, Katahdin Woods & Waters Recreation Area is a special place for everyone to enjoy.
