Hello there! My name is Julia and I am a sophomore at Colby College in Waterville, Maine but my hometown is Concord, Massachusetts. At Colby, I am studying Environmental Policy and Anthropology. On campus, I am a leader for the Outing Club and a leader for the first-year outdoor orientation trips. I also am involved in a youth mentoring program called Colby Cares About Kids and am an officer of the Colby Organic Farm and Garden Association. After college, I would love to have a career in working for an environmental non-profit.
I am very much looking forward to the upcoming Great Maine Outdoor Weekend. I grew up exploring the outdoor wonders of New England and fell in love with Maine during a family trip to Acadia when I was in middle school. That trip led me to attend a semester school in Wiscasset during my junior year of high school and eventually to apply to Colby as well. I love Maine for the wide variety of stunning landscapes and the opportunities to get outside and be in pure wilderness that seem to exist in all corners of this state. The GMOW is a wonderful time for Mainers to experience their state in all of its winter glory!
In the time leading up to the GMOW, I will be helping with the project by promoting events on social media and supporting event planning and outreach all across Maine. I am so honored to be on board with this group and am very excited to put together an amazing weekend.
