Katahdin Woods and Waters Winter Fun, National Monument

What:
Volunteer Guided Cross Country Ski and or Snowshoe on Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument Groomed ski trails
North End or marked East Branch of the Penobscot SnowshoeTrail
When:
Meet at 10 am at the trail head /Matagamon Gate each day
February 14th Guided beginner Intermediate SKI (advanced can extend on their own)
February 15 and 16th Guided Snowshoe with beginner animal sign and tracking (conditions permitting)
February 17th Guided Ski or Snowshoe depending on reservations

Note , the trail head and boundary are found .6 mile in from route 159 on a plowed gravel road. Pack a shovel just in case, all wheel drive and or snow tires suggested.

All guided trips are fine for beginner to advanced , more unguided options for advanced skiers after.
Bring warm layers, equipment , camera, snacks and water , we suggest poles with your snowshoes if you have them.
We now have a privy at the trail head
Please check for changes and cancellations before driving all the way up there, no cell service at the trail head.
Overnight accommodations/dining can be found at the Katahdin Area Chamber of Commerce , ask for Patten/Mt Chase region.
