AMC Cathance River Snowshoe/Hike, Topsham
February 11, 2019
Celebrate the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend by joining us for a fun afternoon winter outing in Topsham at the Cathance River Preserve. We will lead the group on a snowshoe or hike (based on conditions) on the trails at the Preserve. This is one of my favorite hikes in the area. The trails will lead us down to the river where the ice formations can be magical in the winter. We will follow along the river and do as many trail sections as the group is up to. We will then loop back to the parking area. Watch for animal tracks along the way and enjoy this beautiful woods walk. Trails are narrow with some short steeper sections. Snowshoes required if enough snow. Microspikes or similar traction may be required if icy. Plan on about 2-3 hours out. Please let us know if you need to borrow snowshoes.
You will have an opportunity to visit the Cathance River Education Alliance Ecology Center and have someone from the Cathance River Education Alliance and the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust join us for our outing. A great opportunity to learn more about this special property while enjoying the beauty of the preserve – a Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust property. So join us in this wonderful winter wonderland.
