Jolan Ippolito, Development Associate with the Mahoosuc Land Trust, shared the following event report:
While the Mahoosuc Land Trust had its usual three outdoor adult activities in place for Great Maine Outdoor Weekend, one drew the bulk of the crowd and 30 or so folks tromped in the forest looking for mushrooms.
Of course on their way through the woods, they ran right into the fairy houses that were built by the Eddy School located in Newry, ME. On Friday the middle schoolers piled out of the school van with bags of materials to use for embellishing the natural setting for the fairy houses.
In the afternoon, the children’s orienteering scavenger hunt, giant bubbles and nature made kaleidoscope activities were in full swing. In fact there were adults in line waiting, right along- side children and their family members.
A wonderful BBQ followed the events with delicious hamburgers and fresh corn, compliments of local farmer, John Carter.
Additionally, our Art Celebration Grand Opening had over 40 art pieces entered with the theme of “In Your Backyard.”
